5-Amino-1MQ is a selective inhibitor of the enzyme NNMT (Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase). By inhibiting NNMT, it elevates intracellular NAD+ concentrations and accelerates cellular energy metabolism in ways that mimic aspects of caloric restriction. Research has documented effects on adipocyte biology, including reduced fat cell size and inhibition of new fat cell formation.
